unTimely
Its sickle swung
Death called
All so soon
All so abrupt
and all so sudden
no time for prayers
no last words uttered
no time for a single thought
Lives simply ebbed
into nothingness
Ere the nick of time
And as wet winds blew
kiths and kins
family and friends
near and dear
unprepared
numbed and stunned
froze in grief
aghast in despair
to accept the truth
that death calls
sans any warning
May the souls RIP

Yet again
You are gone
yet again
vanished
like the
rainbow
on the
yonder horizon
leaving me
utterly nonplussed
It’s hard to
sync
life with
days
when pushed
back
to abandonment
and
loneliness
yet again
Thoughts explodes
out of
control
as life desists
in paused
moments
and frozen times
Loneliness bites
splashing
bitter sensations
from your
going
and its hard
yet again
as always
as ever
in fact
harder
this time
I am left staring
expectantly
for your
return
though I know
you have
just left

earthquake (September 18, 2011)
source: kuenselonline.com |
The walls
rattled
The
showcases
The
cupboards
The photo
frames
and
everything
that there
was to rattle
The lights
blacked out
Everything was
cursed
in absolute
murk
as the world
jolted
one and all trembled
Everyone
knew that it was
Saw the end
was nigh
As death
came knocking
Bequeathing
a close call
Leaving homes
crumbled
Hearts grievously tormented
and lives
put on the line

13/7
Moans and groans heard everywhere
Destruction aplenty on the ground
Fallen bodies are everywhere found
No cries can bring the dead alive
No condolences can heal the wounds
No words can soothe the shattered lives
The wicked face of terror has gnarled
Its devilish horns have once again gored
Its brutal fangs have heartlessly clawed
to tear apart the race of humanity
Terrorists, aren’t you humans too?

Broken dreams again
canstockphoto.com |
My dreams
are broken
Pieces of shells
so sharp and cutting
lie strewn
in murky emotions
of a ruined heart
My plundered thoughts
lie submerged
in an ocean of tears
the rainbow has vanished
without a trace
Beware
Don’t gather the pieces
of my broken dreams
unfriendly and sharp
It might slash you as well

Reflections
A six-year-old HIV-positive child named Along lives all alone in his rundown home in Nieucheping village of Liuzhou city in Southwest China's Guangxi Zhuang after both his parents died from the deadly virus. He receives 70 yuan of subsistence allowance per month from the local civil bureau and periodical material supplies from kindhearted people. Other times, he has been collecting wood to support himself. Source (including photos): English.sina.com
I was so touched with grief that it prompted the following lines of haiku. May god bless the boy or death take him away too.
at tender six years
burdened to make his ends meet
toils he day and night
lonesome and gamesome
unawares of impending death
boy, ball and shadow
In an unkind world
Love and affection unknown
mere walking shadow
Silence for a friend
Loneliness and fear his guests
Living silhouette
Light darkening fast
Surviving sans a future
Cruel and unfair world
Rose nipped ere its bloom
Despair hopes and lost future
Cant death take him away?

Cold mist
Tuesday, March 15, 2011
Wrath of angry Gods
crashed all lines
untold
all hell broke loose,
ere the eyes winked
the water
thicker than blood
swept through homes
its tentacles
soaring
touched the skies
engulfing buildings
cars, trains, lives
everything
giant fireballs rose
into the face of death
into the face of death
birds fled from their trees
but not humans
devoid of any escape
sought safety on rooftops
waved white scarves in vain
as houses swayed and tumbled
like castles of sand
cars floated on roof tops
ships overturned like toys
into the sea,
never to be seen again
the world watched
the whirlpool of destruction
in horror
helplessly
in horror
helplessly
stunned, shaken
the blows of death
was never more cruel
was never more cruel
never more menacing
huh
the waves have rolled back
lifeless rubble remain
cars and planes strewn
the debris of destruction
only the oblivious silence looms
Grief stricken sights
all around
of
all around
of
broken dreams
shattered lives
fallen tears
of a once beautiful world
crumbled
